SID Monitor

What is a SID?

These charts show the strength of VLF radio signals (blue) received by the PTO’s VLF receiver. By monitoring the strength of the signals, solar activity may be detected. The second value (white or yellow) shows X-ray flux data from the GOES-16 weather satellite provided by the Space Weather Prediction Center. The VLF data are updated hourly, the GOES-16 data are updated every 15 minutes. All dates and times are (UTC).

The VLF data are reported daily to the Stanford SOLAR Center. The PTO is a participant in their global SID monitoring network.

Geomagnetism Monitor

NOTE: I am currently assembling a 3-axis geomagnetometer to monitor the Earth’s magnetosphere’s response to solar activity.
